SOCIAL MEDIA ALGORITHMS ARE RUINING REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY, FOR THE BETTER

In today’s digital age, social media algorithms have a major influence on the content that we see online. These algorithms are designed to show us only the most relevant and engaging content, which often means that we’re exposed to only the most beautiful and professional photos.

For real estate professionals, this means that potential clients browsing the MLS have come to expect a higher level of quality and style when it comes to real estate photography. Gone are the days when a simple, functional photograph was enough to showcase a property. Instead, consumers are now looking for stunning, high-quality images that capture the essence of the property and its surroundings.

As a result, real estate agents are being forced to raise the caliber of their photography in order to meet these evolving expectations. The industry standard wide angle HDR look, which used to impress, may now seem outdated compared to the beautiful interior design style photos that consumers are used to seeing online.

To elevate the caliber of MLS photos and match the quality and style that today’s clients expect, real estate agents should consider working with photographers that use more stylized and creative techniques, such as vertical photos, tighter focal lengths, and turning off the gross orange interior lights to allow the beautiful window lighting to come through, adding depth and dimension to the images.

By doing so, we can provide our clients with the high-quality, visually appealing imagery they expect, and help our listings stand out in a crowded market.
